Catalina not letting me save via VBA

    Hi all,
A slightly unusual problem. I have just done a clean install of Catalina, and have purchased Excel 2019 for Mac. I'm using a "late 2015" iMac with 32GB of RAM.

I have a Macro which I have been using for years, but which now falls over on this line:

Please Login or Register to view this content.
...with a Run-time error 1004: Method 'SaveAs' of object 'Workbook' failed.

I get the same error if I replace the file type with an xlsx file, format xlOpenXMLWorkbook.

The silly thing is, if I have previously (in the same session) manually saved the file, then the macro runs and saves the file as it should.

I figure it's some sort of permissioning in Catalina, but I have permissioned the folder both for "me" and "everyone" to Read & Write.

Having spent some time thinking about it, I thought I had hit upon the answer by giving Excel "Full Disk Access" in Security & Privacy Preferences, but this didn't make any difference either.

I'm sorta bereft of ideas now. Does anyone have any others?

    Thanks

    Phil

    Hi
your profile indicates XL2007 and your question is about a Mac version.
    Which is correct?
    What or who is Catalina?

Sorry, Catalina is the new 64-bit-only MacOS, necessitating the need to upgrade Excel (and other 32-bit apps) to the 64-bit version.
    I have updated my profile.

Welcome to Apple's sandboxing. You should be seeing prompts rather than VBA errors, but that might be a Catalina-specific problem. There is a new VBA method for allowing access to external files: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/off...omultiplefiles
