    Vlookup when column varies

    Hi all!

I want to search for a particular number in a table. The first column is a unique letter, and in the row containing that letter is a series of numbers.

What formula can i use to find a particular number in this table when it could be in any row, and return the letter in the first column?

    Thanks for the help!

Hi. Adapt this to the range of cells in yoru real sheet:

    =INDEX($B:$B,MAX(INDEX(($C$4:$L$18=$O4)*ROW($C$4:$L$18),0)))
