I have a formula in normal excel that extracts the name of the tab sheet into a cell:
=MID(CELL("filename",A1),FIND("]",CELL("filename",A1))+1,256)
How can I get this to work in google sheets?

If you want to extract current worksheet name in Google Sheets, you will have to write your own function. Under Tools > Script Editor, copy and paste this JS code to a Google Sheets module, click on run to grant permission first. Then you can use this function to get worksheet name.

Many thanks for this. I created the script, saved and clicked run, but still nothing seems to be happening.
Do i select the cell, then run the script? If so, that is what I am doing, but nothing seems to be happening?
