Grey bar appears above and below table

I am having a problem on a Mac similar to that in the thread "Grey field appears on top of the window and below form when enabling Formula bar" [I am not allow to include the link, but search for it]. I first replied there, but Admin asked me to start a new thread.

Grey areas have appeared at the top and bottom of one of my worksheets. It is only happening on one of two worksheets in the workbook (att).
If row headers are shown, there is a very small set of buttons 1, 2 and 3 in the left of the field above the row headers, which disappears if you turn row headers off. This might suggest something to do with grouping?

As suggested in the other thread ...
    • I tried messing around with the group/ungroup buttons (the ones referenced but not named in the other thread). That didn't help.
    • I tried turning view ribbon or view formula bar on and off, but that does not remove it.
    • I saved it as an .xls (1997-2004) file, but that did not fix it either.
    • I don't think there is an OS X equivalent to the Windows preview pane mentioned in the other thread. Anyway, the fact that it is only happening on one worksheet suggests something within the worksheet.

    Any more ideas?

    Welcome to the forum.

There are instructions at the top of the page explaining how to attach your sample workbook.

I am moving this to the Other Platforms section, as it's a Mac query.

Yes, it's a Mac enquiry. I don't know if that is relevant to the problem.
Sorry I failed to attach the workbook. Trying again now.

BTW, I have 'worked around' the problem by going back to the previous day's version and re-applying the wanted changes. That version is OK, so I must have done something unintentionally on the problem version (which is the one attached.

You have somehow grouped some columns. Select the entire worksheet and then Data | Ungroup | Columns twice to get rid of the groups. Then the wide grey bar will disappear.

    That was it! Thanks.

I didn't previously hit on the combination of selecting everything and ungrouping columns rather than rows.
