sharing excel bettwen laptop and phones

does anyone do this? I want to share a sheet between my devices, but I don't want to send it through a medium that is monitored by automation. for instance, don't want to upload it to the cloud then dl it to phone. don't want to send it to myself via email and then dl on phone. I don't think I've asked this question HERE, but I think I did somewhere else on the net. anyone have any ideas how to do this?

You think you asked it elsewhere? If you know where that was, you will need to provide a link here, please, as you know.

I don't see how you could achieve this without the cloud in some form, although you can set up a server at home that you can 'dial' into. Not sure how easy that would be in practice, though.

yeah the server at home is not worth it Ali. I've talked to many people locally about doing that sort of thing and all of them have said it's a waste of time and effort in this day in age, when everything from corporate people literally costs pennies. but now that I think about it, I don't think I asked this specific question anywhere else, but rather just similar things. here are the 3 I have bookmarked:

OK, then sorry, but I don't have any further ideas for you. I use OneDrive for this, and sometimes DropBox and/or LiveDrive.

so that uses the cloud though. . what kind of data do you store in it? anything you don't want other people to see?

Yes, I know they use the cloud - I wasn't suggesting them as a solution, as I know that you don't trust the cloud.

yes I do Ali. I'm well aware of the fact that most of that stuff is not looked at by humans. that would be a complete waste of money. Nothing happens after the uploaded files are scanned for viruses. the content just sits there. the reason I don't want to use it is because it is cumbersome. that's the only reason. i want to avoiding endless ULing and DLing. iphone to Mac is pretty simple via AirDrop, and I'd assume you can to the same to a Windows laptop just using Bluetooth. I don't use Android but I'm fairly sure most of them used to come with software to transfer data via cables (eg Samsungs used to use Kies software, I think).

    rorya,

when i plug the AD phone into the LT via USB, the phone IS in the sys items, however the content that appears is completely jumbled and makes no sense whatsoever, folders are all different names, some content is there, some isn't. folders do not even indicate what's in them, per the name of the folders. want to see a shot of that? i can make one.

No, I don't see how a screenshot of gibberish would help me. I suspect you will need an app to aid the transfer.
