UDF function on Sharepoint Online not working

    Hi all again,
I recently asked for help (I can't link this thread to my previous post), which worked beautifully (thanks for the help), but I couldn't UN-solve my own post that's why I am opening a new thread (sorry).

I have loaded the spreadsheet on SharePoint Online as per my company's policy.
Sadly, this UDF don't work (i.e. the function is not recognised and it returns a NAME error) on SharePoint Online unless they are enabled.
Is there something I can do from my end to make it work or do I have to contact Microsoft/administrator to enable UDFs?
    Thanks

If you are using Excel online to open the file that is saved in SharePoint, UDFs won't work. You can't run VBA from Excel Online.

If I have misunderstood your problem please describe further how you are opening the file.

Re: UDF function on Sharepoint Online not working

I think you understood correctly what my problem is.
Once I load the spreadsheet on the Sharepoint Online, I then need myself and my colleagues to open in from that online platform to work on it, update it, etc...
Is there anything I can do to ensure the UDF will work and my colleagues are able to work on it?

No. It's simply not supported in the online version.

However, a file stored in SharePoint can be opened in the desktop version of Excel (I always used the desktop version for this). Is that an option, or do you only have access to the online version?

You may be able to write a macro to do the same thing using TypeScript which is an extension JavaScript. However, I have no experience with it so can't help. Also, TypeScript works only on the online version, and VBA works only on the desktop version, so portability is a challenge.

Mmmh...it seems that opening it thru the Desktop App is the way to go.
Can you please confirm that multiple users can have it opened in the Desktop App, apply any changes and it will automatically be saved in the online version?

I can't guarantee it but I can tell you that it always worked for me. We used SharePoint to develop proposals and conduct status meetings and I opened Word and Excel desktop versions and it worked. However, you must open the file directly from SharePoint, rather than downloading the file. If you open the web version of Excel, there is a button somewhere up at the top that says "Open in desktop version" or something similar. That is the safest way to get there.
