Divide column numbers?

Hello Everyone,

So I'm new to using excel and I have a question I'm hoping someone would be able to help me with. I have 3 columns, (D,E,H) D has a number (currency) and E has a percentage, I need H to be D-E. I know how to do this by putting something in H such as, =D2*(1-30%) or =D2*E2, but the problem with that is I have thousands of (I believe they're called 'cells') those boxes going down the column and it would take forever to have to write or paste and edit that in every single one. Is there a way that I can simply multiple the numbers in D by the percentage in E and make them all show up in H? I know I can highlight the entire column and do it but what I really need is for each one individually.

Thanks!

hi tester and welcome to the forum

all you need to do, when you have typed in that formula, is drag it down as far as you need it. if you look at the bottom right hand corner of the cell (yes, that's what they are called), you will see a little black square. if you hover the mouse over that, you will see the "empty" cross change to a small cross. click and hold on that and drag it down as far as you need.

as an alternative, once you have the formula typed, woth the cursor still in that cell, press ctrl and C (this is copy), then move down to the next cell, hold down the shift key and use the down arrow to move down as far as you need, then press ctrl V (this is paste)
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

That worked perfectly and saved me a ton of time! Thanks very much!
