Hello. I've been working for a mid-sized UK software company as a Technical Author for ten years. This is after 30+ years in SW Dev (everything from 'big iron' down to firmware). Obviously, my main role is now reviewing, editing & publishing tech docs, which keeps me /very/ busy.
I am asked sometimes to develop spreadsheets to produce reports from SQL & other sources. So, my need is for fast answers to questions on connections, data manipulation & auto-formatting, rather than number crunching. With the help of snippet sites and forums like this, I have been replacing vast piles of complex (& slow?) formulas with much more maintainable (& I hope faster?) VBA functions. But I am far from being a VBA expert; I steal other people's code snippets and tweak them for my own uses ... lacking the time to fully understand them. It would be nice to know a bit more about what I'm doing, but I don't have time for proper training courses any more (eg I'd love one on VBA, and maybe COM / DOM too).
Oh, and pivot tables ... somehow, I just don't 'get' those. (sigh)
