Hello all, my name is Joshua Holbrook
I joined this forum to get help with VBA programming in Excel to help me learn how to create more automated and visually meaningful dashboards using excel.
Currently using O365 and have early release turned on for all features.
A few years ago I began working with .csvs from a proprietary web portal the company I worked for used.
these were used to create sales tracking data for our partners and help to show how cross promotions helped to drive the value we brought to their business.
Currently, I am working with external data sources (OLAP Cube on our internal server, and custom reports from our TMS that refresh twice daily to a static file location on the same server).
These data sources are aggregated into a single data table and then used to create a dashboard for our salespersons. There are team dashboards and individual scorecards that have a rating system defined by the management.
The rating system was designed with all values on a separate sheet in the workbook to make it easy to change the maximum rating and weight of each variable.
Future work on my dashboard includes creating VBA programming to run macros at certain times and create a slideshow of top performers, salespersons by location, and top performers individual scorecards.
additional goals include...
- creating a script to print to PDF all individual scorecards (they are on one sheet with a drop down selection box)
- script to copy data from aggregated table to a cloud hosted table, this will enable power app creation
I love talking excel and functions especially VBA programming, Data management in general and how to create more visually appealing workbooks and dashboards.
Thanks for creating a great resource here.
