    Hello Fellow Pilgrims

Fellow Pilgrims: I refer to those of you who are hobbyists when it comes to working with Microsoft products. I started working writing code in the middle 1970s working on a mainframe. My first programming language with FORTRAN and, using FORTRAN, an assistant and I created a spreadsheet program to analyze our research data using the company’s main frame when there were no spreadsheet programs. Our programs and data were all on Hollerith cards. We drew charts on the line printer. I can remember discovering Visicalc and. the first time I used something called Multicalc. My first computer in the office was an Apple 2 something. I bought my first personal computer in 1981 a Microsoft PC based on advice from the head of our IT department who claimed that one day I would be able to use my computer hooked into the office mainframe. In those days Microsoft windows was just emerging and Excel was in its infancy. I learned to programs spread sheet stuff building a checkbook application for myself. Over the years I have used Microsoft products at work and at home. I retired in 2000 and recently an opportunity arose for me to write VBA code again for a little personal program/ application .
In the years that I was not involved with programming Excel I did extensive programming using Access both at work in for personal activities. I haven’t programmed Access for years. I haven’t programmed anything using Excel for even more years. It is amazing to me just how much new “stuff” one can do with Excel. I am astonished by the amount of information that exists online describing all the amazing things one can do today using Excel. But I have found myself in a blind alley and I’m going to need some help.
I joined the forum years ago and the moderator sent me a note that says that have been a member of the help forum for 805 days but haven’t posted anything and that I should introduce myself.
I’m not sure I can help anyone else because I am a pilgrim and I haven’t yet found Plymouth rock. I am really at Sea so be kind please I’m doing the best I can.
