I'm a recovering hardware and software engineer.
I'm now a Realtor and flip houses when the finances are favorable.
I use Excel when appropriate.
I have several modules to help me with "geographical farming" - to compose addresses and other information to be printed on postcard mailers.
I refresh my geographical farming data monthly or so.
I'll be adding functionality to get AVM (automated valuation model) pricing for homes such as Zestimate. I am a certified PSA (pricing strategy advisor), but it takes about 30 minutes per home. I have hundreds of homes in my farming area and prices are changing quickly these days. I'll be using Excel to visit several sites (zillow, redfin, realtor.com, rpr) to get quick-and-dirty pricing and use the variance among them as a confidence factor.
I have extensive experience with C, C++ and Java. VBA is underwhelming, but so am I sometimes.
