Hi, I'm Susie, a self-taught and still very-much-learning Excel user

    Hi, everyone!

So far, I've been a member mostly just to look up stuff I was trying to figure out, but the website was giving me a nudge to go ahead and introduce myself!

A year ago from now, I was really just your average young adult Office user: Perfectly competent to use anything in Excel that someone else had already set up, and maybe do some very basic operations (eg. summing). A few months ago, I started teaching myself more intermediate to advanced level Excel techniques in order to address a huge need I saw at my job. Though I found that I loved it and could figure things out pretty quickly, my knowledge is probably very piecemeal at this point: True advanced- or intermediate- level Excel users (and even some beginners!) would probably think that my work is a bit of a train-wreck, and there are likely some very basic things that I know nothing about. But on the other hand, I've gotten to the point where I can write certain power functions (about as long as a novel) in my sleep! And, I can kinda-sorta write a little VBA (but still learning). And the bottom-line is pretty cool: I am very close to my goal of at least doubling the efficiency of the way my team does what we do! In fact, now I'm working on a part of my project that I had originally dismissed as an impossible pipe-dream (having since looked into it and discovering that it might be very possible after all)!

So, I'd imagine that paints a pretty good picture for you of where I'm at!

And... you're going to start to hear from me a little more on the message boards! Locating help on functions is easy. But locating the answers to my VBA questions on the internet or Office help files is a monster!

    Thanks, everyone!

    Susie
