Advice to select the Desktop configuration PC

    Dear Friends.

Currently I am using desktop having configuration of Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-4150 CPU @ 3.50GHz, 8GB RAM, 64 bit operating system, MS office 2010.

Mostly I work on multiple excel files of approx. 150mb size each. ( rows of 9 lac with 5 pivot table).
My excel hangs and it restarts automatically after popping errors.
Its really troublesome to work and affecting my productivity.

We plan to buy i5, 8/16 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD.
Will this configuration solve my problems to excel ?

Also advice the latest configuration PC which can solve my excel problem.

    Please assist.

Others will be more knowledgeable, but what version of office will you be running in the future as this will also influence things

The structure of the spreadsheets may also be part of the reason for hanging, but they are large sheets. Popping errors is not a very specific description of a problem. is it when running vba code, running out of memory, refreshing a link etc?

An SSD will probably open your workbooks faster and suing 64-bit Excel, otherwise your RAM usage will cap out very quickly

A ryzen cpu offers more bang for bucks, especially since intel decides to delay icelake yet again.
    I'd recommend ryzen 5 /7,

If you're not into serious gaming or OC'ing, no need for the newer x570, x370/x470 will do.
I'd also recommend nvme m2, the price difference with ssd is negligible these days.

I have an SSD on my laptop and working with Excel is much faster. I advise you to install it, too!
