How to confirm closing document with a sound

I recently got a new PC and went from Wdo 7 to Wdo 10. Everything works pretty well except I used to get a confirmation sound when I closed an Excel or Word Document. I am using Office Home & Student 2010, Military Appreciation Edition, since I am retired fromn the Ait Force.
.

Every search I make says to click on the File button and then click on the Ease of Access selection, but on my version there is no selection for that.
Is it because I have a very outdated version or is there another way to activate the closing sound?

Try, under Window Settings/System/Sound...then in the right, click Sound Control Panel.
See if you can find a setting there that does what you want.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Re: How to confirm closing document with a sound

I've tried a lot of the program events and none of them provided any sound when closing an Excel or Word document. I'm getting used to it, and if I forgot to save before closing, or thought I'd closed it but didn't, the popup box would ask me if I want to save or not.

I'm just so used to getting an audible confirmation and wondered if I was missing some method of obtaining it.

I thought I would give it one more try so I added a sound setting to the Close Program setting and it worked. However, the same sound now is now heard when opening some programs and when doing various other things, like opening a tab in Firefox, which got annoying, so I turned it off.

Is your new PC set up to use OneDrive? If so, Autosave is switched on by default, so you will not get reminders to save because Excel is saving your file constantly on the fly.

I will look into OneDrive. I only recently got my new PC and am still exploring.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Can you update your profile to tell us which version of Office you are now using? I suspect that has been upgraded, too. If you accepted all the default settings when you set up your new PC, then it most likely is using OneDrive as the default save location.

Re: How to confirm closing document with a sound

I am using Office Home & Student 2010, Military Appreciation Edition, since I am retired from the Air Force and got it at a good discount.

I don't have onedrive in my computer and don't want to get it now. I do get the notice to save or cancel so that verifies that onedrive is not active.

I'm happy this way and do not wish to change anything at this time.

Thanks for your efforts and advice.

Re: How to confirm closing document with a sound

I was not suggesting that you use a newer version! I said that if you hade a newer version of Office, it would be there by default. You have now clarified that you are still using an older version - thanks for clearing that up.
