Is there a shorcut to save a document by dragging it into an opened folder

    Hello everyone one,
    I use windows.
Suppose I worked on a excel file and want to save that file into a folder that is already opened.
Normally, I use save button and from the opened menu, I try to find the location of the opened folder. Sometimes, it may take a long time to find the location. I can copy and paste the location of the folder from address bar. I know it. However, is there a way to drag my file onto the folder and solve it quickly?

I find that mac has a closer dragging method:

This might work for you. I don't use mapped drives. Instead, I create shortcuts. They are easy to create: go to the directory to which you want to make a shortcut. Click in the navigation bar. This should show you the real pathname to the folder. Copy this path name (CTRL-C) then right click on the desktop and select New > Shortcut. Paste the path name into the destination box (CTRL-V). Give it a descriptive name. You now have a shortcut on your desktop.

I suggest making a copy of the shortcut in My Documents as well. Many applications default to this directory when you save files. I name my shortcuts with a caret symbol (^) in front of them such as ^S Shortage Report. The caret moves it up in the directory listing.

There is also a program called free launch bar. It's a good place to organize the clutter that would normally be on your desktop. It's free, one of the "folders" or "menus" I have on it contains all the shortcuts I've made. So in two clicks, I can open any folder I want.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

Thank you very much. I loved your suggestions. That's good for constant folders. However, I want a way for my workplace. In my work, there are autocreated folders in network with many subfolders and each day newly created folders are added that I need to work on.

You know, sometimes you spend too much time on a routine operation and then one of your friend shows you the shortcut, you say "wooow, amazing..!". So I give a shot to my problem

For example, a few days ago one of my friend told me that when you want to copy an excel sheet into the same file, you just need to hold ctrl button and drag it to right. I said "You are king"

    Maybe the attached will help.

I manage my monthly memos in My Documents\Memos\YYYY\MM MMMM format. For example, currently I am working in: MyDocuments\Memos\2022\11 Nov.

I run this on the first of every month. The utility figures out what year and month it is and creates the directory and two shortcuts to it: one for the quick launch (Free Launch Bar) and one in My Documents since that's where many of the downloads for applications want to download their data by default.

I even associate an Icon with it.

If the directories to which you are trying to make a shortcut are predictable, then perhaps you can modify this code to meet your needs.

Ty Mr. Flak. Actually, I can use this file because for my another work, I upload a file from the recent folder to a webpage for e-signature and move it to archeive. So, each time my web browser looks to my documents folder. There I can add your code to the bottom of my macro so that I can modify a shortcut to my recent file to upload. That's a very nice idea and lowers my probability to misupload another file.

Yes, there is a way to save a document by dragging it into an opened folder in Windows. To do this, simply open the folder that you want to save the document in and then drag the document from its current location and drop it into the opened folder. This will save the document in the opened folder without the need to use the save button or manually navigate to the folder's location.
Nothing is a waste of time.
