Windows XP : Touch screen OS

I have a 26" touchscreen monitor for my autistic son to use, I want to use a computer that is running Win XP are there any patches or add ons to XP that will enable touchscreen capabilities? I know they are already built into Win 7 OS but trying to save some money on making this work.
