    Documents and Settings All Users Documents - Access is denied

    Hi All,

    Would appreciate your help with the attached error message.

    I am using Windows XP SP3 and am set up as an administrator.

    I cannot install a software programme because I do not have "access" to this Documents folder.

    Are you logged in as the Administrator or as a User. This may make a difference.

    I have my computer password protected so I have to log in and I am set up as an aministrator.

    Thanks for the info.
    Followed the instructions on the support microsoft link but unfortunately it didn't work.
    I've attached the error message that I get when I try to install the software.

    You may be the administrator, but I know on my XP machine, when I log in, there are two icons. One for Administrator and one for me as a user. I believe that you need to log in on the Administrator Icon to achieve what you want.

    Hi Alan,

    As you will see from the attached there are 3 people who access my computer (my wife, my son and myself) and we are all set up as administrators.
    At the log-in screen there are only 3 icons.
    The software I am trying to install (VMWare) is basically an upgrade from an earlier version.
    The upgrade automatically uninstalled the earlier version before "installing" the upgrade.
    Appreciate your help.

    Is the Folder Shared? I use VMWare almost exclusively...right click on the Folder...share it...see if that helps.

    Thanks for the input.
    I shared the folder as shown in your jpeg but unfortunately it didn't work.
    I have also logged in as my wife, who is also an administrator, and that didn't work either.
