Macro that goes to Folder, selects- not open- files specified

I need a macro that opens Windows Explorer, goes to a folder and selects multiple files based on filenames either on my clipboard or excel. The files named may be in different subfolders within the main folder, the macro should look in there, too. Sometime volume is quite high; over 10k files.

There is code to look at files in folder...then do what... open all 10k of them in Excel?
Are these excel files or other?

Not open, just select them. They are pdfs, jpegs and tifs
