    #VALUE! - Wrong Data Type

I have a workbook with twelve sheets (one/month); I'm using named ranges, but for the column formatted for currency, I get the Wrong Data Type error when I use the named range for that column.

    Named Ranges; format

    Amount: Currency
    GL: Text

    formula: =SUMIF(GL,A5,Amount)

Named Range Details: GL - Scope - Workbook; Refers to: =Apr:Mar!$l$5:$l$45
Amount - Scope - Workbook; Refers to: =Apr:Mar!$q$5:$q$45

    Any comments welcomed

Unfortunately, SUMIF doesn't work with "3D" named ranges. I can't post a direct link as I haven't posted enough yet, but if you go to exceljet.net and search for "3D SUMIF for multiple worksheets", you'll find a couple options that may help.

Hello Melvosh. Welcome to the forum.

You can attach files directly to this forum. No posting restrictions for that.

Some members cannot upload from 3rd party sites due to work place policies.

To attach a file to your post: (Please no pics or screenshots ... saves retyping data.),

be sure to desensitize the data
    • click “Go Advanced” (next to Post Quick Reply – bottom right),
    • scroll down until you see “Manage Attachments”, click that,
    • click “Browse”.
    • select your file(s)
    • click “Upload”
    • click “Close window”
    • click “Submit Reply”
The file name will appear at the bottom of your reply.

Thanks Melvosh, was not aware of that. Making scope Workbook works, but you have to Move or Copy to create new sheets which then creates a new named range for each particular sheet. I'll explore the Exceljet solution, once I completely figure it out !
