    Checking attendance

    Hi,
I have a list of attendants and time stamps of their registration time for diverse seminars. Out of that have I calculated what seminars they have attended.
What I would like to do is to make a table that summarises which seminars each attendant has attended.
See attached pictures for example. The first picture the in data, and the second is the result I would like to make.

    Re: Checking attendance

    Welcome to the forum!

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Ok, I attach a sample.
Input is found in the tab "Raw Data", times for the session in "Session Data"
The result I'm looking for help with is the tab "Individual Stat" (that table is now a mockup).

    @Sandy - a reminder, please:

Although there is no official rule regarding this behaviour, we request that wherever possible both the question AND the answer be provided in substantive detail here within the thread. An attached workbook is an excellent aid for posing a question and offering a solution, but solely doing that with no in thread explanation makes it difficult for researchers to understand or consider the Q & A of this thread without downloading what may be a pointless doc to them, if they can do that at all. Doing that also hides the content from search engines so others may never benefit from this.

In other words, please provide a summary of each of the solutions given and the steps or formulae used in the body of your answer. Thanks!

    Re: Checking attendance

If OP doesn't have PQ - description is not necssary but if OP confirm that he/she has then I will do description.
What can I say about Pivot Table? simply: use PivotTable

    but ok, here is "formula":

    Re: Checking attendance

Sandy - you keep missing the point. PQ is NOT self-explanatory: even if the OP has it, he may well not have used it before. The same goes for pivot tables: they are not as straightforward as those of you who've been using them for a while seem to think. They, too, need explaining.

Please don't continue to ignore moderation requests that are for the benefit of ALL participants on these forums. Thank you.

    Re: Checking attendance

Absolutely not. You cannot withdraw help just because you are asked to explain the solutions you have offered. That is not in the spirit of these forums. Your posts will remain in this thread - please do not edit them.
