Help with formula based on color

I'm a basic excel user and I'm trying to figure out how to create a specific formula. I have a range of cells with peoples names in them. I've color coded the cells by the persons value. For example, Blue equals 300,000. Yellow equals 100,000. The people are arranged by groups. I want to sum the group based on the cell fill color. So for example A1 is Bob, the cell fill color is blue. A2 and A4 are Bill and Eddie and those cell's fill color is also blue. A3 and A5 are Sally and Tim, their cell fill color is yellow. In cell A6 I want a formula that adds the value of 5 people based on the color. So it would equal 1,100,000. But the cells would still show the persons name, not their value. I hope this makes sense and someone can help me, it would save me a ton of time. Thanks.

Color/font etc are cosmetic, not data, and excel formulas only work on data.

However, that doesnt mean you cant do this another way. If you have value ranges (or values) for each color, you could use SUMIFS to run the calc for you.

As a matter of fact, you could use Conditional Formatting to change the cell's color automatically, based on it's va;ue, too.

    I suggest that you

upload a small (clean) sample workbook (not a pic) of what you are working with, and what your expected outcome would look like.
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
