Excel Glitch - Freezes when using Alt to paste

Hi,

I have not been able to find any information on this online or here so apologies if I just missed it. Whenever I try to paste using ALT + V + [V, F, etc.] excel freezes up and looks like the attached image. I have to manually click on something else in excel or switch to another program and then switch back to excel before I have any functionality.

I have tried unchecking 'show paste options button when content is pasted' and 'show insert options buttons' in the advanced options, I have restarted multiple times, and tried clearing the cache for the software. Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

to paste Ctrl+V works ( also Shift+Enter)
Alt+V starts old shortcuts from previous excel versions

I have seen this occasionally - a quick click on the Escape key usually rectifies it.

A lot of the time I need to paste just values/formulas, paste to match formatting, etc, so just using ctrl + v wouldn't work

Unfortunately the escape key doesn't do anything.

Hello mattknight14 and Welcome to Excel Forum.
Ctrl + Alt + v brings up the Paste Special dialog box where you can choose to paste as values or formulas among other options.
