    Post Formula for (product price plus mark up) plus tax

    good evening

    May you please let me know the formula for let say the product price is $100 with a mark up of 25%. then on a separate formula, the total of the product price plus the mark up then plus 9.5% tax.

    The mark up and tax may change or vary so please let me know the correct formula.. For what ever reason, the formula that i created only works for 25% and when i change that to a different mark up percentage, the result is incorrect.

    this is just an example as i have a boatload of products in my spreadsheet.

    MARK UP 25.00% TAX 9.50%

    PRICE MARK UP IN $ INITIAL TOTAL TAX IN $ SUBTOTAL
    $40.00 $10.00 $50.00 $4.75 $54.75

    formula used

    MARK UP 0.25 TAX 0.095

    PRICE MARK UP IN $ INITIAL TOTAL TAX IN $ SUBTOTAL
    40 =(D5*$E$2)/(0.75+$E$2) =D5*(1+$E$2) =(F5*$G$2)/(1+$C$2) =F5*(1+$G$2)

    thank you very much in advance for the assistance

    Good morning!

    A sample sheet, showing EXACTLY the nature of the problem, would be a help. (See yellow banner at the top of the page). See if this gets you started, though.

    If A2 = Price, B2 = Mark Up %, C2 = Price plus Mark Up, D2 = Tax %, E2 = Price plus Mark Up plus Tax
    Then, C2 = A2*(1+B2) and E2 = C2*(1+D2)
