Man's Mind Stretched to New Dimensions Never Returns to Its Original Form
Hi Alansidman,
Is that still required when the information on the sheet is irrelevant to the code required? As in if black it goes red but if anything is put in either letter or number it goes green.
thanks
Will
Format them with red fill, then use conditional formatting using Cell Value, not equal to, and enter ="" in the value box, and apply green fill.

Thanks for your help, i have followed that which has made the cells red when empty but how do i now make them green when something is inputted to them?
Select the relevant cells, click Conditional Formatting on the Home tab, then New rule. Choose 'Format only cells that contain' from the Rule types, then choose:
Cell value, Not equal to, =""
in the three boxes, click the Format button to pick a green fill, then OK.
I am sorry i was reading your reply all wrong. perfect thank you massive help
