MAC: Missing Applescript folder with Office 365 ?

Is anyone using Office 365 on a MAC?

I'd really appreciate half a dozen replies to the question:

Do you have a folder on your system called:

My problem is that I have code which works fine on Office 2016 and 2019 but not Office 365. It fails because of the absence of that folder.

    I'd really appreciate knowing:
OS version, Office version and whether the folder exists.

    Many thanks

    Re: MAC Office 365

    Many thanks Rory.

That tells us that it is not inherent to 365.

The system it's failing on is Office 16.41 under "Macintosh (Intel) Version 10.14.5 (Build 18F132)" which
    I understand is Mojave.

Working platforms include Office 16.16 under OS version 10.14.6.

See 'Other platforms: Applescript folder' for why I was asking.

Please pm me if you'd be prepared to beta test my code!

Re: MAC: Missing Applescript folder with Office 365 ?

Administrator: Thank you for your feedback. I’ll try to clarify.

I am trying to port an Excel/vba application to run on MAC. I cannot give a url here but google OSGB Phil Brady to see what it’s all about.

The problem is that there are very terrible limitations on MAC imposed by the sandbox (eg cannot even reliably choose a file for writing without Excel freezing!!) and lots of half truths in the documentation. Ron de Bruin and Nigel Dyer have both documented some of the problems.

The escape route is to use Applescript routines placed in a special folder:
/Users/(user)/ Library/Application Scripts/com.microsoft.Excel which I believe should be created when Office in installed.

We now have the code working with Office 2016 and Office 2019. One of my collaborators has an Office 365 system though it fails because the folder has not been created. A manually created folder does not work either (routines ‘spin’). This system has Macintosh (Intel) Version 10.14.5 (Build 18F132) with Office 365 version 16.41.

Hence my request for a poll of information about version and whether the folder has been created.

Alternatively, if anyone can say why the folder might be missing or which properties/attributes/flags/privileges need to be given to the folder for it all to work I’d be grateful.

In due course I hope to publish a set of notes for MAC/vba implementers.

    Any clues anyone?
    Phil
