# [Solved] Make a sum of cells based on a value in another cell

1. ## [Solved] Make a sum of cells based on a value in another cell

Hi,

Probably a very simple question for you Excel pro's but I'm looking for a way to make a sum of all values that are still 'pending'.
I've got amounts in column F and in column H I've got "Pending" or "Paid". I want to make a sum of all values that are still 'pending' to be returned in a cell, say K2.
So for example I've got:
F3 = 500, F4 = 300, F5 = 100
and
H3 = Pending, H4 = Paid, H5 = Pending

I want a sum in K2 that returns, in this case, "600", because 500 and 100 are pending. If H5 changes to 'Paid', I want K2 to return "500" because that's the only pending payment.

I'm bound to Office 365 unfortunately due to work restrictions.

Welcome to the forum.
You can use SUMIF. The format is =SUMIF(range to check, what to check, range to sum). So using your example:
Formula:
`Please Login or Register to view this content.`

Change the ranges to the real ranges you have.

Hope that helps.

In het Nederlands:
Formula:
`Please Login or Register to view this content.`

U moet de juiste referenties daarin zetten in plaats van de voorbeelden H3:H5 en F3:F5.
Hopelijk helpt dat een beetje.

This sure helps! Already saw this formula when googling but was confused as to how to apply it.

Thanks!
Bedankt, aardige spook
