Filter Function, only for 365 subscribers?

Is it true that the FILTER function is only available to the Office 365 subscribers? It would explain why it doesn't work for someone else that I created a spreadsheet for.

Re: Filter Function, only for 365 subscribers?

    Hey - I'm unsure if that's true.

I need to use the FILTER function. I previously had 2016 professional version and have just purchased a subscription for 365:

Just installed office now and I get the same error when using the FILTER function - stating 'That function isn't valid'.

Can anyone confirm which version of office supports this filter?

    Thanks

    @ Ciggy36

Have you tried performing an Office 365 update?

Yes - when I goto my account page - it now states 'Subscription Product' 'Microsoft Office 365'
Then when I check to do an update it says the latest version is on my computer

Note: This function is currently available only to Microsoft 365 subscribers.

Re: Filter Function, only for 365 subscribers?

Thanks for the link confirming the FILTER function is only available to Microsoft 365 users.

My user is insisting she is a 365 subscriber, which I'm presently looking into.

I can't really understand the logic of restriction this Function, or other Functions, unless it's a new (to me) sales tactic.

Re: Filter Function, only for 365 subscribers?

It's quite normal for new versions of software to be better than their predecessors and to have new functionality. I'm really not sure what's so surprising to you about this.

I suggest you ask your user to force an update - if they have 365, this will resolve any issues. If they don't it will prove they don't.

Re: Filter Function, only for 365 subscribers?

I have suggested the update, so hopefully that will put matters right.

I don’t make a habit of creating spreadsheets for others and not needed an awareness when new functions become active, so I haven’t faced this problem before.

Thanks for your help. I must be more attentive.
