    Re: Highlights upper row

    Welcome to the Forum Lswinnie!

A couple of bits of advice: 1) If you need to show us an image, attach the image inline instead of attaching another file with an image in it. Below your post, click Go Advanced. Place your cursor where you want the image to appear. Click the image icon pictureicon.jpg, then upload your image file. 2) Attach your Excel file instead of showing us a picture. It's easier to do, and we'll understand your problem a lot better (see yellow banner at the top of the page).

It is not possible to answer your question with certainty without seeing the "Applies To" range for your rule. However, based on what you have shown, I am betting it is A4:Hx where I can't even guess what x is. But your formula refers to row 5, so your Applies To range has to start in row 5. Change it to A5:Hx.

If that is not your problem then you need to attach your file, or at a minimum show a screen shot of the conditional formatting rules dialog box.

    Re: Highlights upper row

Applies To is the range that your conditional formatting rule applies to.

    Re: Highlights upper row

The problem is exactly what I said. Your formula starts in row 5, but your Applies To range (the cells to be formatted) start in row 4. That means that Excel will format row 4 based on what it sees in row 5, will format row 5 based on what it sees in row 6, and so on.

I have corrected this in your file which is attached below the picture.
