Why when I paste numbers into excel why does it show as a combination of numbers with a letter and a + sign?
    Many thanks

    Re: Pasting numbers into excel

What are the numbers? If they are very large or very small, and the format is General, Excel will use scientific notation like

    1E+14

to display 100000000000234. It is the same as
    scinot.JPG

To force it to display as a long string of numbers, select a number format that displays it as desired.

If you format the cell as Text and then Paste Value it should look exactly like it does in the source.

Can you paste the number here for an example?

Also note that Excel can only store 15 significant digits. Are your numbers really numbers that you have to do maths with, or is it something like a serial number?

Hi, thank you for your message, so I paste this number in 355016407688529 and this shows up 3.55016E+14
I’ve tried general, text and number as the cell format
    Many thanks

    Re: Pasting numbers into excel

When I paste this into a cell I get 3.55016E+14. Then I change the format to Number and get 355016407688529.00. Then I can change the number of decimal places to zero. That's not working for you?
