Red face WRAP text (show last added lines/hide first lines)

    Hi,

In my work i am having many weekly alignment meetings with different stakeholders and i have chosen to write the Minutes Of Meetings (MoM) from these meetings in excel and to send out the tasks with a simple VBA. I am using one wrapped cell per topic and this is has been working great so far!
Now after having used this excel for a few month each of the cells have grown very big (40-60 lines) and in order to keep the history of the topic I would like to hide the first/old lines and only show the e.g. 10-20 most recent lines. This however, seems to be more difficult than i would have imagined. I've tried changing the formatting of the cell and to forcibly reduce the height but once i do this all of the most recent/bottom lines are hidden and only the top lines are showing. I need for the old lines to be hidden and for the new lines to be showing.

I don't know if i have explained myself properly but any help is appreciated I can also "make up" some comments and send the excel sheet if that is of any help.

while Excel allows 32,767 characters to be entered into a single cell, the visiblity of the characters is limited by the size of the cell. So the more characters you add to a cell, the more resizing of the cell may be required. Reducing font size will not allow you to exceed the 32,767 limit since the limit is based on bytes and not pixel usage. You can use the autofit facility of Excel to get the optimum setting, but Excel is not a word processing application and has limited tools for handling text strings.

    Hi JLGWhiz,

Thanks for taking the time to respond on my post.

I believe i did not explain my problem correctly as your reply does not answer my problem.

I understand that the size of the cell determines the number of characters that are visible. If the number of characters in the cell exceeds the "visible" size then Excel will hide the excess characters.
The function of hiding excess characters is what i am looking for, but instead of hiding the most recent characters I am looking for a way to hide the first characters.

E.G. Below are three text lines and let's say that the size of the visible excel cell can only show two lines. I need for the two last lines to be shown, but excel will only make the two first
lines visible and hide the last.

02-01-2018: One man has to visit a customer
03-01-2018: A second man has to go to the production
04-01-2018: A third man does nothing

I hope this better explains it, thanks

In text edit mode with the insertion point after the last text character, use [Alt + Enter] for line feeds, then manually resize the cell by dragging the bottom grid line upward. That will push the top lines of text upward out of the cell frame. I can't think of another way offhand.
