How to prevent Outlook from opening two instances of an email when I select 'Reply'

    I'm using Outlook 2013.

When I open an email message, then select 'Reply' or 'Reply All' from within the opened message, it creates another instance of the email.

Is there a way for it to simply reply within the first opened instance of the email body, rather than create a second copy that takes up space on my monitor?

As far as I know, your options are to either:

    a. click "Reply" from your inbox (without opening the email in a new window - see viewing pane for reading emails in the inbox window)
    b. upgrade to 2016 where you can reply directly in the inbox window (but opening an email in a separate window still functions the same)
Design everything to be as simple as possible, but no simpler.

I'm on a work PC and stuck with 2013.

I didn't know if there was a setting I was overlooking or even a macro that could do the job for me.

Hmm I guess you could write a macro for it and put it on the ribbon
