emailing a file that uses vlookup

    Hi all,
i have done a search and unable to find an answer to my question, probably because i do not know the correct terminology to help find the answer so maybe you can help.

i have a file which uses vlookup to search and input data on multiple cells from another workbook up until now this has been a great work around but i am now required to email the data in this file to a source away from the original workbook i am taking the data from.

Is there a way i can get the data i need (hopefully keeping the file as is) so when i email the client the data is clearly shown instead of the missing data that is currently being thrown back?

    Hi,

when you use links to external references in an Excel workbook, Excel will normally ask if you want to update the references when you open the workbook. If you select "no", then Excel will not try to access the external reference but keep the values that were stored in the workbook at the last refresh. So, instruct your email recipient that they must not refresh the external links and the workbook should be fine. When you get the sheet back into your environment, you can open it and refresh the external links.
