Need a little PowerPoint help

So I have a presentation in PowerPoint that has about 50 slides. Of that 50 only about half of them are actually going to be presented. I have the slides numbered but the numbers now make no sense to the folks watching the presentation. It jumps from 1, to 3, to 8 and so on.

How do I get the page numbers to only count the non-hidden slides?

So for example, if the 3rd slide of my presentation is in actuality the first unhidden slide, then slide three should have "1" in the bottom corner. And so on.

Here is another tip try going to slide show tab then make sure the "Keep Slides updated box is checked. You can also go to Record and from beginning and format through there if worse comes to worse. Then go throught each tab and insert a text box over each slide and bring to front to number that way.
