VBA code is read-only - how do I copy it?

    Hi there,

I have to adapt an old VBA powerpoint code for work but the issue is that its in read-only.
If I copy the code and try to paste into another module or Word/notepad, nothing shows up (and when pasting to another module it crashes the powerpoint)
Worst comes to worst I could type it out but itīs very long so I was looking for a smarter solution.

    Many thanks!

    Thread moved to appropriate section.

Why is the code read-only? Are you trying to copy commercial code?

It was created by someone else in the same company who has since left and we are unable to contact, I imagine he chose to protect it.

OK - so please attach the PowerPoint file.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Is there no way to get assistance without attaching the document? For privacy purposes?

Remove the sensitive information first. How do you expect us to be able to help you to get the VBA code without access to it?

The way I read this is that you're asking use to break Forum Rule#7 regarding bypassing Security Options.
Avoid using Select, Selection and Activate in your code. Use With ... End With instead.

I don't think so, Rudi - the workbook is the company's property as the former employee created it whilst working for them for use in the business. I believe we can give this the benefit of the doubt.
