    Date formula required

Hi, I wonder if anyone can help with this,

I need a formula that will show the date in cell B1 when a barcode number is scanned into A1, this date then needs to stay that date.

So if we scan a barcode today it will show the number of that code in A1 then the date that this was entered will appear in B1 and stay as todays date, tomorrow the action will be carried out again in A2 and tomorrows date will appear in B2. Hope this is an easy one!?

Thinking about it date and time would be helpful!

    Many thanks

    Hi,

    How about a short-cut key?

    CTRL+; Enters the current date.

Hi, Thanks but thats not really what i am looking for, it needs to be automatic as the people using it will not really be using anything except a bar code reader which drops the text from the barcode into cells on column A... I just need to see what date they scanned the barcode.

    Thanks

Right-click on the sheet tab, click View Code, and paste this into the window that opens:
