How to automatically/proportionally shade in month columns based on "From" and "To" dates?

I want to be able to enter "From" and "To" dates (yellow below) and have Excel automatically shade the correct cell areas in the month columns for that particular row. So, in the example below, the user would have entered the dates in A2 and B2 and Excel would automatically shade G2, H2, and I2 correctly, based on the dates entered.

    Welcome to the forum.

Excel can't shade a cell like that.

EDIT: Conditional formatting with data bars could get you partway there, but the bars would be based in the cell value (precluding putting something else in there), and all the bars would be left to right or right to left, not mixed as you've shown.
