Somehow the feature (that mimics your entry with a computer voice that tells you what you entered) got turned on. Where is the OFF switch for this very annoying item?
Hurry, it's driving me mad!!
Thanks

Sorry? You cocked up and we have to hurry?Hurry, it's driving me mad!!
Right click on the QAT Customize drop down.
Select More Commands, then
All Commands
Scroll down to the Speak cells options
Add the relevant entries to the QAT
Click OK
Now you should be able to switch Speaking cells on or off.

Sorry, It's not quite that bad, but I was just annoyed that somehow I turned it on and could not figure out how. Didn't mean to imply any rush on anyone else, just venting my personal frustration with myself.
Thanks for the response, I found the switch and all is right with the world, at least ist is quieter.

No problem
It is a pain and not immediately obvious how to switch it on or off. I suspect there is a key combination somewhere that does it much more easily.
But, any port in a storm. If you found a better/quicker way, please share.

Customize Ribbon, Remove 'Speak Cells on Enter' button. Problem solved.
I was playing around with various controls one day and forgot to take this one back off of my ribbon, forgot about it and must have accidently turned it on.

Ah, I guess the approach is to add the switch it off button, press it, and then remove the big red do not FFS touch this "switch on speech" button
Something like that, or when you are testing out buttons to see what they do and you don't like them, remember to remove them.
