Whenever I have an excel spreadsheet open (which is often), if I try to Alt+Tab to another program, excel will not release control and brings focus back to excel. I have noticed in the pop-up screen showing open programs/windows all my excel spreadsheets are half-screens whereas all other open programs are full screen.
Anyone know how to fix this? And, what's going on?

I am not able to replicate this. I use 8.1 and with excl 2010/2013/2016 I have never seen what you describe

It's windows 8.1 and Excel 2010. It happens after the program has been running for a while. It's a real pain.
I have not experienced this, but I will ask some of the other experts
dont have 8.1 to check but have you tried any of the mentioned methods in this link
