Linked Excel Files on Dropbox Maintain Absolute Local Links Instead of Relative Links

    Hi Everyone -

Long time excel user, first time forum participant.

I've been having an issue with 2 linked Excel files that live in Dropbox. Wondering if anyone can help?

    Lets say ...
    Workbook 1 is named: "Chickens"
    Workbook 2 is named: "Eggs"

Cell A1 in "Eggs" is linked to cell B2 (value = 12) in "Chickens".

The resulting path that appears in cell [Eggs A1] is:
    ='Macintosh HD:Users:johndoe:Dropbox (personal):Barns:Omelette:[Chickens.xlsx]Sheet1'!$B$2

    The problem...
There are several different team members, with their own computers and Dropbox accounts, individually editing the "Chickens" workbook over time. When they make an edit and save changes, the Chickens workbook reference link loses it's integrity, and the Chickens user is forced to "update links". There are so many linked cells ... they get updated so often, that we just can't can't do it ... Any ideas are much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Jono
