Red face Conditional Format NO BLANKS in OTHER cells

    Heyo! Quick question.

How do I apply conditional formatting to a column based off ANOTHER columns data? And by data I mean text. Not specific text but just any text in general, or No Blank. I've been successful with =NOT(ISBLANK($A10)). But that only works with one cell in column A. How do I get an entire column to be responsive? Thanks!

With the conditional formatting range: =$B$2:$B$13
    Make the formula: =NOT(ISBLANK($A2:$A13))
Replace the 13 with as many rows as you need.

That works great! Thanks! Although, I do have a small issue. Some of the "blank" cells, have formulas linking them to other sheets. In the OTHER sheets, the cell is blank, but in THIS sheet the cell has that "linking" formula. Is there a way around this?

If the conditional formatting works for you then don't mess with it, but on reflection I think the following simpler CF formula does the same job: =A2<>""

With regard to you additional issue, I think the problem is that even if a formula evaluates to "blank" the CF formula does not recognize the cell as blank as it contains a formula. I'm not sure how to solve that but coincidentally there's a current thread that I think MAY be this same problem. Try monitoring the following thread: https://www.excelforum.com/excel-for...ell-blank.html

Actually, if you use my CF from post #4, then as long as the formula in column-A returns "" then the formatting will work. If the formula refers to a value on some other sheet or workbook then that worked for me as well just so long as the cell on the other sheet ="" or was a formula that evaluated to "". If the cell on the other sheet was entirely empty (clear contents) then the CF did NOT work (go figure).

    Clopez - for future reference:
