Dublicates, combine and sums

Hi guys,

Really hope one of you guys have a little time to help an excel newbie in his way of becoming an excel champion.

What I want to do is:

(A) and (B) is connected in rows and the value of each row is placed in (C) as a number.

However in column (A) and (B) there are a bunch of duplicates.

How can I remove duplicates but in the same time combine the sum the values of (C).

Example:
(A) (B) (C)
1231 Something 1
1231 Something 3
1244 SometingElse 1
1231 Something 1

Output should be:
(A) (B) (C)
1231 Something 5
1244 SometingElse 1

A .txt file is not of much use - please attach the Excel workbook.

Are you using Excel for Mac?

It could be done with 2 steps.
Step1: Getting list of unique string.
Step2: Sum the values with sumif formula.

Oh I have updated the file now.

Is it possible for you to show me how you would do that? Is there a good keyword i should youtube or something like that? :-)

Really wanna learn how to do it :-)

...confirmed by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to activate the array, not just ENTER. You will know the array is active when you see curly braces { } appear around your formula. If you do not CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER you will get an error or a clearly incorrect answer.

As another alternative for returning unique ID/Produkt

• copy A2:B?? and paste into E2
• while that paste range is still selected click Data > Remove Duplicates (in the Data Tools group)
• click OK

Then apply the formula of choice from above posts for the sums.
