copy and paste excel to outlook email - formatting issue

    Hi,
I am trying to copy and paste excel text into the body of an outlook email (see attached). My intention is to use Vlookup for the xxxx values and then copy and paste the resulting message into an email. However, i have not been able to get the formatting in the email body to come over as well as i would like. The best I found is to paste as text but then this takes additional touching up. Is there a better/cleaner way to preserve the format (without copying as picture)?

    thanks
    joe

In this situation I would aim to get the formatting done in the Excel sheet so that it copy pastes just how you want it, this may mean that in Excel it might look a bit weird. Have you checked the various options for paste special, in particular 'formatted text' support.office.com/en-us/article/paste-special-e03db6c7-8295-4529-957d-16ac8a778719

Re: copy and paste excel to outlook email - formatting issue

It's probably easier to work with if you go down the road of formatting in Excel, however there's an 'excel'lent website by one Ron de Bruin that has lots of tips on various VBA routines, including emailing. Have a look here, an excellent read:

    https://www.rondebruin.nl/win/section1.htm

    In principle,
    • Create an Outlook object
    • then create a new mail item
    • Set the "string" to be used as HTML text; here from predefined text on the worksheet, or
    • Define subject, recipient etc
    • either send without user intervention, or display so user can cancel if necessary

You could get really fancy and set up dropdown boxes with text variants to suit different situations, but something like this could be a starting point for you to play with.
