Google sheet: Count the most re-occuring score

Hi guys

Sharing my google sheet:

In column A, I have some scores and some cells which are blank and will be populated over time
In cell A43: =ARRAYFORMULA(INDEX(A2:A40,MATCH(MAX(COUNTIF(A2:A40,A2:A40)),COUNTIF(A2:A40,A2:A40),0))) - this formula, I am trying to figure out what is the most common score and I want a formula to say: how many times the score appears. can anyone help?

Wouldn't that just be COUNTIF(A2:A40,A43)?
