    Reverse the Percentage

    Hello all,

I need help with a formula, brain is just not clicking into gear today.

If I have a figure of 320 and add 7% the result is 342.40

What I need help with is how do I find out the original figure (320) knowing i have a 7% add on and my starting number is 342.20. So if I wanted to sell for 342.20 and i wanted to ensure I had a 7% fee, how can I determine the original 320 of what I need to buy the item for

    Re: Reverse the Percentage

That would be the sale value divided by 1.07.

    Excel 2016 (Windows) 32 bit
    C
    D
    1
    £ 342.40
    £ 320.00
    Sheet: Sheet1

    Excel 2016 (Windows) 32 bit
    D
    1
    =C1/1.07
    Sheet: Sheet1

    Re: Reverse the Percentage

    I think it's something like
    342.40 - ((342.40/7) * 100)
You divide the amount by the percentage and multiply the result by 100 then subtract that.
    Something like that
