Question Entering Names by Typing First Few Letters (No Drop-Down)

Dear all, I am new to excel, I want to enter a name in a cell from a list of 100 names I have on another work sheet. By just typing the first few letters of the name into the cell I need it to complete the entry. I do not want to use a drop down box. Kindly help and sorry for my lack of knowledge on this.

    Administrative Note:

    Welcome to the forum.

We would very much like to help you with your query, however the thread title does not really convey what your request is about.

Please take a moment to amend your thread title. Make sure that the title properly explains your request. Your title should be explicit and not be generic (this includes function names used without an indication of what you are trying to achieve).

Please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and adjust accordingly. To edit the thread title, open the original post to edit and then click on Go Advanced (bottom right) to access the area where you can edit your title.

(Note: this change is not optional. As you are new, I have done it for you this time.)

This cannot be done without VBA and some sort of lookup list, however Excel will automatically begin to recognise letter combinations as you add names to a list and make suggestions.

If you want, I can move this to the VBA section.

    Do what?

I asked if you wanted me to move this to the VBA forum for you - do you?
