VLOOUP using barcode and number.

I am trying to do a VLOOPUP using a barcode number which whilst it looks like a number is a actually a code.

Barcode displays as "9344213000091" but when I convert it to a general format it displays as "9.34421E+12"

In my second table the corresponding barcode number is actually a number not a code.

I am almost certain these two differing number formats are returning me my #N/A error.

How do I convert the coded barcode to a genuine number so the VLOOKUP will function. Or is there another way to get around this?

Try adding zero to looked up value in your fomula like this =VLOOKUP(0+A2...

OK so I have found the solution if anyone else is interested.

The problem was my second data set that I thought the barcode was formatted as Numbers was not, even though it was saying it was.
I noticed the numbers were left justified, indicating they were not numbers.

So I selected the barcode row and went to the Data tab and clicked "Text to Columns" then simply clicked "finish". I have no idea what this actually did but it fixed the issue.

Just do format as a number for both, then you can use the Vlookup formula to get the answr
