Conditional Formatting #REF errors when removing cell

Hi,

I am trying to color code names based on a central name sheet.
So in the central name sheet "Peter" is in Cell A2.
After creating a formatting rule based on A2, Peter now has an assigned color anywhere in the document.
However, when I delete Peter from A2, the Conditional Formating formula now shows a #REF error.
Is there a way to keep this formatting rule intact, so that it keeps looking at A2 even though this cell is deleted?

you can use references like INDEX($A:$A;2) or INDIRECT("A2") etc
