The match function still refers to table 1 in this cell shown, even though the result is correct (taking row B from table 2). Why is it still working when match reads table 1? attached sheet.

because your model is same (in terms of size, names and order) in both tables so it is working fine

Say thanks to those who have helped you by clicking Add Reputation star.
Because the CHOOSE statement returns Table2, so the MATCH statement offsets to the second named range as appropriate. Use evaluate formula to step through ans see it working.

How would I write the MATCH function then if I changed the table 1 Models to EFGH?
Because I learnt this here so I dont really understand it in this nested function context, even though I know how match functions work on their own. Its a variable array formula.

There are no matches in column L so it will return N/A.
