Lookup with Index and Match solution needed?

Hi

Am not sure if there is a solution to this but I'l throw it out there anyways

So am creating a football stats database in Excel and am pulling two sets of data from two different websites. The problem I'v got is that each site has a slightly different name for some teams, for example Barcelona on the other set of data will be FC Barcelona. This is a problem because some of my formulas need to search through a team list which I'v compiled from one of the lists, but which is obviously slightly different to the other when searching through that websites data, so therefor using Exact Match will not work
I'v tried using Approximate match but this casts the net to wide, for example it thinks Manchester Utd is the same as Manchester City
The question is, is there a way around this?

Not sure how many teams are involved, but could you not build up a list of the differences, then use a small Macro that "Finds and Replaces" whichever version you do not want when you update the records, to ensure they match?
