    Question V-Lookup noob question

Hello all, I am sure I am making a ridiculous mistake on this but I don't use excel often so any help is greatly appreciated!

I have a link to the google sheet that has a vlookup formula in sheet1 that I cannot seem to get right. I am needing excel to search the list on the "export" sheet and populate the infusionsoft ID column on sheet 1. I am unable to post the link but can send it

    Thanks in advance

    Re: V-Lookup noob question

Hi are you aware the Vlookup expects the data it's looking at in the 1st column to be in Alpha Numerical order!

    Re: V-Lookup noob question

    perhaps
    =LOOKUP(2,1/(export!$B$2:$B$508=Sheet1!B2)/(export!$C$2:$C$508=Sheet1!C2),export!$A$2:$A$508)

although some don't match at all, some as the names are different Angie and Angela Knarr for example Bethany Gilson and Gibson etc

    Re: V-Lookup noob question

Thanks, if there are some name sthat are off I can fix them manually, I was just trying to match as many as I can. That formula worked in the first cell but whern I dragged it down i got n/a. I'm guessing I need to change the referecned cells after the $ sign?

    Re: V-Lookup noob question

    Here's a solution using INDEX(MATCH

As davsth said, some cells just don't match.

EDIT: I created an OR type formula where if the first names result in an NA error, try the second names. If that's NA then the whole row is wrong.

    Re: V-Lookup noob question

No Problem! Index(Match formula is definitely worth learning as it's quite dynamic. You don't need to start at a certain column like vlookup.
